Genuine friendship must be built on respect and sincere acceptance of each other’s incapacity and
weaknesses. Sometimes we expect too much of the people around us and because no one can ever
live up to our expectations, we are almost always disappointed. Nobody is perfect and we all make
mistakes to the point of sometimes, we inadvertently hurt others. What is more important in the end
is that we find the willingness to accept our faults and our sincerity in making up for all the pain we
caused others.
It is much better for our friends and for us if we drop the expectations and illusions and accept them
all just the way they are. Wouldn’t it be better if we just let go and let people be who they are? For
it is only then that we would be able to see them as they are----with all their beauty and goodness in
which we take joy and with all their faults which we can also see in ourselves.
It is not what we see on the outside that counts. The real value of a person is not measured by how
much he has but by the good that dwells in him and the real beauty of the person is the one that only
our heart can see. The most important thing to remember is always appreciate the friends that you
have because whether we realize it or not, everyone we know is very special to us.
